Since the early days of Biblical inspiration the Psalmist David illustrated through comparison the simple things of nature to convey matters of great spiritual importance to man.
I experienced something of this nature a few weeks ago when we were staying along with our niece and her boys at a lovely cabin in the rural area of Kentucky. The morning after their arrival we ventured out for a day trip by car driv- ing upon crooked roads passing through a very narrow tunnel seemingly chiseled out of a solid mountain of rock leading into an area known as “The Gorge”.
Upon ascending to a more mountainous area we stopped along the way to take a walk and view a natural bridge! Glen was walking ahead and briskly
walked across the bridge leavingthe rest of us to straggle behind. after their uncle but it wasn’t until I
The boys bravely followed suit was mid way across the rockbridge that I realized how terrified I we were on this seemingly very nar-
was of the situation at hand. Here row rocky bridge with no side rails
to secure the passerby and only the to break ones fall! Most commonly
solid ground a great distance below being a very adventurous person I
became a bit overwhelmed by my was sensing which combined to-
lightheadedness and the anxiety I gether intensified the strong urge Ihad to get down on my hands and area. Wobbly and hesitantly I fol-
knees and crawl across this rugged lowed those in front of me and
finally made a successful trek to the willing to journey onward even
other side. Yet uncommonly un- though others showed interest in
continuing down the narrow path and additional photos of the naturalahead in pursuit of a better view bridge.
Although hundreds of names one to believe that our adventurepainted upon the rocks would lead was not as dangerous as we sensed
yet my niece and I breathed a prayer when the last family member had
of gratitude and a sigh of relief safely crossed and moved away
from the abrupt edges of this lofty natural bridge!Today my thoughts travel back to our recent adventure as we find ourselves on the edge of a very different but seem- ingly similar risky venture. In the aft of a costly mission endeavor to Bolivia we are making preparations to preach and financially sponsor a major Leadership Seminar in the country of Myanmar, located on the continent of Asia!
Although some would consider the ministry that we fulfill as International Missionary Evangelists as “living on the edge” of fruitful ministry. Today is feels more like our adventurous visit to the natural bridge in Kentucky. As many other missionaries our support system has been greatly affected by the changes which have transpired in our economy and the local churches, therefore understandably we struggled today with thoughts of crossing the vast chasm of ac- celerated cost to fulfill this major mission thrust across the narrow bridge of provision we are presently walking upon.
Although the Lord has blessed us with a wonderful support system due to the uprising cost of travel and the sizeable amount of funds we invest to carry out this type of ministry we need for the Lord to link us up with persons who will assist us to accomplish this great commission from God! To continue to carry the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ around the world!
Please prayerfully consider becoming a part of the vital support system for this ministry.International Missionary Evangelists Glen and Julia Anniskette Project # 650-0013
